Unforeseen circumstances

Carlisle History Tours reserves the right to cancel or suspend a tour. A full refund will be offered in the event of cancellation by us. If a tour is temporarily suspended by us, an alternative time or date will be offered in the first instance. If no agreement can be reached, a full refund will be offered.

If an incident occurs during a tour, the driver will suspend the tour when it is safe to do so. We will make every reasonable effort to continue the tour when safe to do so. If necessary, we will arrange for another vehicle to continue the tour depending on availability. This will not necessarily be a vintage type vehicle. Should a replacement vehicle not be available, you will be entitled to a full refund but will not be entitled to any compensation. A taxi can be arranged to take you back to the drop off point of the tour. We will not be responsible or liable for any further costs or consequential losses you may accrue.

Safety

The safety and comfort of our passengers is our priority. The vintage style vehicles used abide with local licensing requirements and undergo thorough inspections. However, the vehicles are old and therefore do not have the same level of comfort, equipment and technology as modern vehicles. For this reason, Carlisle History Tours wants you to be aware of this information so you can make an informed decision as to whether to undertake a tour. The main points to consider being seat belts, head restraints and a soft top roof. Please contact us prior to booking if you require more information relating to the vehicle. Children under the age of 12 years are not allowed to travel in the vehicle. Any children under the age of 17 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Delays

Carlisle History Tours will always endeavour to arrive at the agreed pick up point in good time but we cannot always guarantee this due to circumstances beyond our control. If possible we will contact you and advice you of an estimated arrival time. No compensation or refund will be given in this event if you decide to cancel the tour due to an unforeseen delay outside of our control.

Right to refuse

The hirer is responsible for the conduct of all passengers. The driver will decline to transport passengers deemed disorderly or unfit to travel on the grounds of safety. In such circumstances, the driver has the right to cancel the tour. In this event, no refund will be given.

Personal belongings

Carlisle History Tours will not be responsible or liable for the loss or damage to your personal belongings. There is limited space inside the vehicle for small hand luggage but no capacity to carry medium or large suitcases. When good weather is forecast, the soft mohair roof will be down for the entire duration of the tour. With variable weather, the side windows and panels may be removed but the roof will remain in place. This can still create side winds to course through the rear of the vehicle. Therefore, please ensure all personal clothing and belongings are securely stored.

Damage to vehicle

The vehicle is old and we politely ask for your respect for the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Drinking, eating or smoking is not permitted in the vehicle. We reserve the right to seek compensation for damage to the vehicle caused by you.

Access/egress

The vehicle is a long bodied tourer, with the rear seats set back leaving plenty of spacious leg room. However, this also means you need to climb and step into the vehicle to access the rear seats. This is easier with the roof down as you can access/egress the vehicle standing upright. With the roof in place, you need to crouch to access/egress from the rear seats. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require more information info@carlislehistorytours.co.uk or 07535 876864. Alternatively, access to the front passenger seat is similar to a modern day car if this is easier or preferred.

Terms and conditions try to ensure safety and offer protection. Any questions or comments relating to our terms and conditions, website or services should be directed to Carlisle History Tours by sending an email to info@carlislehistorytours.co.uk or ringing 07535 876864.
